Brazilian white knee tarantulas have black bodies with black legs. The legs have bands of white which stand out in contrast to the black hairs around them. These tarantulas are large, reaching a body length of about 9cm and females are larger than males.
The Brazilian white knee is native to the Amazon Basin of northern Brazil.
These tarantulas are insectivores and feed on a range of appropriately sized invertebrates.
Females will live for up to 20 years while males have a much shorter lifespan of about 6 years.
