Scorpions are members of the class Arachnida and are closely related to
spiders, mites and ticks.
There are almost 2,000 scorpion species, but only 30 or 40 have venom strong enough to kill a human. The sting of the Asian forest scorpion gives a moderate burning sensation, lasting for approximately 20 minutes. This is followed by slight numbness of the area, which will stop within 2 hours.
