Topic: Rainforest Animals

Aim: To give pupils an understanding of tropical rainforests and better knowledge of the animals that can be found there and how they survive.

Learning Objectives:

  • Where rainforests are found and the habitat layers within them.
  • How different animals have adapted to live in different habitat layers.
  • Animals usually inherit these adaptations from their parents.
  • That living things can be sorted into groups.
  • Some basic food chains within the rainforest and how animals find their food.

Topic: Life Cycles

Aim: To teach pupils about the variety of life, how animals and plants live, grow and how they are connected.

Learning Objectives:

What a life cycle is.

The life cycle of a plant and what plants need to survive.

There are many different types of animals that grow in different ways.

To describe different animal life cycles.

All animals and plants are connected and need each other to survive.

Aim: To teach pupils what a rainforest is, why they are important and how we can help protect them.

Learning Objectives:

  • The Climate of a tropical rainforest
  • That the layers of the rainforest have different mini-climates and different animals are adapted to them.
  •  What resources we get from the rainforest.
  • How we can help look after the world’s rainforests.
