Description

These snakes are usually green in colour although other colour forms do occur. They can be uniform in colour but many Argentine racers have black stripes running the length of their sides and back. The head is long and elongated with a flexible nasal protrusion formed from the rostral scale (the scale on the tip of the snout which borders the mouth opening). This is more pronounced in males.

Habitat & Distribution

This is an arboreal species, living in forests in Argentina, Bolivia and Paraguay.

Diet

Small mammals, lizards and amphibians.
